Why the company holiday party is a different kind of event
A wedding bar and a company holiday party bar look similar from the outside — glassware, cocktails, a bartender — but the risk profile is different. Your guests at a wedding are there voluntarily and mostly know each other; your guests at a company party are your employees, some of whom may feel implicit pressure to attend and to drink, and some of whom report to each other on Monday morning.
That doesn't mean the party can't be fun. It means the bar service should be built with a few extra guardrails in mind from the start.
TIPS-certified staff and visible ID checks
Every bartender we place is TIPS-certified, which means real training in checking ID, recognizing visible intoxication, and slowing or cutting off service — not just pouring drinks quickly. For a corporate event, this matters more than most hosts realize: a certified bartender is trained to handle a cutoff conversation professionally and quietly, without making a scene in front of colleagues.
We also carry liquor liability insurance and can provide documentation to your venue or your company's risk/HR team if that's part of your event approval process — increasingly common for corporate bookings.
Drink tickets, timed bars, and other practical controls
A hosted open bar for the full length of a multi-hour party is one of the more common ways a company holiday party goes sideways. Drink tickets (a fixed number per employee), a timed bar (open for the first two hours, cash or closed after), or a beer-and-wine-only hosted bar with liquor available separately are all common ways to keep the night generous without being unlimited.
None of these require announcing a policy from a stage — they're simply built into how the bar operates, and our staff handle them as a normal part of service.
Plan the ride home before the party starts
The most overlooked piece of corporate bar planning is transportation. A rideshare code, a pre-arranged shuttle, or simply a clear, repeated reminder in the invite that ride-home options are covered removes the awkward moment of an employee deciding whether to drive after a few drinks. It's a small line item that meaningfully reduces your company's risk.
